What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."

- A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

If you are interested in joining Lewis Memorial, it is important that you understand and agree to these core beliefs before you sign our Membership Covenant.
The Bible
The verbally inspired Word of God without mistakes as originally written.
One God
He is the Triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are co-eternal and equal in glory and power.
The Father
Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of the universe; Giver of all life; Father and Disciplinarian of His chosen in Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
His deity; His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His substitutionary death on a cross; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal, imminent return.
The Holy Spirit
Indwells all believers thus enabling and empowering the life and ministry of the believer.
The Fall of Mankind
Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but by disobeying God, every person, because of Adam’s sin, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God; and that man is unable to save himself from this lost condition.
Salvation
The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him are declared righteous because of His sacrificial death. It is the gift of God, available by grace and received through personal faith in Christ.
Eternity
The bodily resurrection of everyone who has lived; the saved to eternal life with God, and the everlasting punishment of those who have rejected God’s forgiveness through faith in His Son.
